Grid Snap & Alignment Guides

This documentation is also available in video format!

Watch a complete demonstration of the new Grid improvements, including Alignment Guides and configurable Snap subdivisions.

Arttista now offers more precise tools for artists who rely on the Grid system. Whether you're creating technical illustrations, tilemaps, pixel-perfect assets or clean vector artwork, these improvements make accurate positioning faster and much more intuitive.

Alignment Guides

When the Grid is enabled, moving points now displays dynamic alignment guides. These visual references help you quickly align points with nearby geometry both horizontally and vertically.

Alignment Guides appear automatically while moving points, helping you create cleaner and more consistent artwork.

Grid Snap Subdivisions

Traditionally, Grid Snap only allowed points to snap to the main grid intersections.

Arttista now allows you to subdivide each grid cell into smaller snap increments, providing much finer control while preserving the convenience of automatic snapping.

Why Use Snap Subdivisions?

Sometimes the main grid spacing is too coarse for detailed work. Instead of disabling snapping entirely, you can simply increase the snap resolution by dividing each grid cell into smaller sections.

Best of Both Worlds: Snap Subdivisions maintain the speed and consistency of Grid Snap while giving you the freedom to position objects with much greater precision.

Typical Applications

These new Grid features improve both speed and precision, allowing artists to spend less time aligning objects manually and more time creating.
