To move a section of animation from one point to another on Arttista’s timeline, use the Ranges feature combined with specific keyboard shortcuts.
The process for moving an animation section is as follows:
1. Select the Range on the Timeline
First, define which section of the timeline will be moved:
- Hold the Ctrl key, click and drag across the desired frames on the timeline. The selected range will be highlighted on the timeline.
2. Select Objects in the Scene
A crucial rule in Arttista is that timeline operations strictly respect scene object selections.
- Make sure to select all objects or points on screen whose animation you want to move. If an object is not selected in the scene, its animation will not be moved, even if the range on the timeline is selected.
3. Move the Animation to the New Position
With the range highlighted on the timeline and the objects selected in the scene:
- Press and hold Shift + Alt.
- Click on the first frame of the selected range on the timeline.
- Drag the frame block to the new destination on the timeline and release the keys.
⚙️ Important Detail: What Happens at the Source Position?
When moving a range, the behavior of objects at the original position depends on a global setting in Arttista’s preferences:
- Go to Preferences → General.
- Check the status of the option “Invalidate Objects in Source When Moving to Another Position”.
- If enabled, the animation will be “cut” from the source (the objects will no longer contain that content at the original position). If disabled, the original content will remain intact at the source position.
★ How to Clear the Range Selection
After completing the move, you can remove the range highlight from the timeline by right-clicking it and selecting Clear Selection, or simply pressing Esc while hovering over the timeline.
